Google’s agentic assistant Gemini Spark is now available on Mac through the Gemini desktop app, the company announced Wednesday. The update adds integration with Google Tasks, Google Keep, and third-party apps including Canva, Dropbox, Instacart, OpenTable, and Zillow Rentals. Spark can now track topics in real time — such as sports scores, stock movements, or breaking news — and use that information to react to events. The assistant also supports custom Model Context Protocol (MCP), enabling users to connect their preferred apps directly.
Gemini Spark, launched last month, is designed as a digital life agent that can perform tasks on a computer and within connected services. On macOS, users can ask Spark to sort files, create documents from existing files, or turn invoices into a budgeting worksheet. The integration with Google Keep and Tasks was a requested feature; early tests had noted the absence of Keep support as a limitation. Spark now also works with apps like Canva for design, Instacart for grocery ordering, and OpenTable for restaurant reservations.
The macOS launch puts Spark in direct competition with other desktop ИИ agents such as Claude Desktop from Anthropic, Microsoft’s Copilot, and OpenClaw. Google says users will “soon” be able to assign multi-step tasks from their phones, for example asking the desktop agent to extract information from a file on a Mac. At launch, Gemini Spark for macOS is available in beta only to Google ИИ Ultra subscribers in the United States. The addition of MCP support allows advanced users to build a more personalized assistant by linking external apps directly.
